PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

School Home Connect

School Home Connect is an education supportive program for students with disabilities, who are in general education classes. The program provides wraparound services, by working with students, caregivers and schools to maximize students' full potential.

Program staff works directly with students and teachers by providing direct student supports in general education classes, and by providing bi-weekly progress reports to caregivers. In addition, program staff empower caregivers by teaching them how to advocate for their students. Staff also teaches students how to advocate for themselves.

School Home Connect program goals are to create positive learning experiences for students at school and at home, and to help create an encouraging and productive relationship between caregivers and schools. Furthermore, our goal is to increase the number of students graduating with state certified high school diplomas through the use of Individual Service Programs (IEP) and Personal Curriculums (PC).

Note: Services are offered to high school students with IEPs and are attending general education classes.

Individual Education Program Success

Individual Education Program Success (IEP Success), is also an education supportive program. We offer free trainings and resources to parents and guardians who have children birth through age 26 with a disability or suspected disability. Additionally, we offer free quality non-legal education advocacy services. IEP Success staff participate in IEP team meetings and other school meetings with students and families to ensure students are receiving a free and appropriate public education (FAPE).

Program goals are to to ensure students are receiving FAPE and to increase parents and guardians knowledge in the following areas:

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  •  Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE)
  • Individual Education Programs (IEP)
  • Contingency Learning Plans (CLP)
  • Personal Curriculums (PC)
  • Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA)
  • Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
  • Manifestation Determination Review Hearings (MDR)
  • Restorative Practices,
  • State Complaint/ Due Process

In hopes to alleviate some anxieties associated with IEPs and promote IEP success for students.
